AGWPE and RMS Express

RMS Express is a messaging program for the WinLink system. One of WinLink's options is to use VHF/UHF 1200 baud packet to send WinLink messages to RMS Packet nodes. Unfortunately, RMS Express was not written to use sound cards and there is no way to link it to AGWPE directly (and once I heard from someone on the WinLink team that they don't plan to add it). RMS Express can only connect to a hardware TNC via a serial port.

Fortunately, Jim W2YG has now written a utility program called AGW Express Interface that can link AGWPE to RMS Express: http://w2ygsoftware.com

Jim's utility makes use of a virtual serial port, provided by the HW Virtual Serial Port utility, to link RMS Express  to the AGW Express Interface, which then links to AGWPE.  HW Virtual Serial Port connects to AGW Express via TCP port 4500 and AGW Express links to AGWPE via its default TCP/IP port 8000.

The AGW Express Interface installation will install AGW Express and the HW Serial Port utility. If needed, it also installs AGWPE and RMS Express . To link to HW Serial Port, it also configures RMS Express to look for a virtual "TNC-X" hardware TNC on serial port "73" (the default port; can be changed by the user). It will also configure AGWPE to use your sound card (or a SignaLink if it is plugged in at install).

Besides downloading the AGW Express Interface program, you probably should also download the Implementation Guide for your version of Windows. There are also some installation videos on that page that may be helpful.
